Hamilton is the King of Austin, there’s no doubt about that!

Hamilton is the King of Austin, there’s no doubt about that!

Lewis Hamilton showed everyone, including his rival and Mercedes teammate Nico Rosberg, why he is the rightful King of Austin as he cruised to a comfortable victory to take home the United States Grand Prix – a race he won four times in the last five years. Racing experts and sports betting pundits already anticipated the British Formula One driver to do great in the Circuit of the Americas, and after he recorded the fastest lap to take the pole position for the race, even the doubts that lingered in the minds of his live betting supporters disappeared.

Hamilton started the race as the betting odds favourite along with Rosberg. However, even though he was evenly matched with his German teammate, the 31-year-old Hamilton didn’t make it look that close at all. Rosberg, who was behind Hamilton on the starting grid, dropped to third early after Red Bull’s Daniel Ricciardo passed him around the outside of the second turn. Although the German Racer also got lucky as he retook his position mid-race following a free pit-stop due to Max Verstappen’s gearbox failure, it wasn’t enough as Hamilton was already too far out.

Hamilton, on the other hand, never looked back since the start of the race as he got no imminent threat from other racers. He held more than a five-second advantage throughout and even had a nine-second lead by the time he reached the 42nd lap. Hamilton ended the race 4.5 seconds ahead of Rosberg and more than 19 seconds up from Ricciardo, who has to settle for third. Ferrari’s Sebastian Vettel finished fourth while McLaren’s Fernando Alonso, Toro Rosso’s Carlos Sainz and Williams’ Felipe Massa round up the top seven after they took advantage of the commotion in the opening lap.

With the win, Hamilton reached his 50th career victory and cut Rosberg’s lead to just 26 points. Nonetheless, with three races to go, Hamilton needs to get all the points and hope that Rosberg falls out of the top three to complete his comeback.

Next stop will be in Mexico. See you there!
