Value in backing Tennessee Titans to be AFC Champions

Value in backing Tennessee Titans to be AFC Champions

We’re just four games away from the end of the NFL regular season, but there’s still fantastic value to have in the outright markets – with the 40/1 for the Tennessee Titans to win the AFC Conference probably the best-priced bet of all.

Despite last reaching the Super Bowl back in 2000, there’s plenty of reason to believe they can prove those inflated odds wrong and win their Conference this season. Offensively, they’re shining right now under head coach Mike Mularkey, scoring 91 points in their last three games – a run which included victory over the Chicago Bears and Green Bay Packers, with the Titans 47 points the highest total the Pack have conceded in their last 136 games. Much of that success has been down to former Heisman Trophy winner and Quarterback Marcus Mariota, with the 23-year-old boasting the AFC South’s best pass completion rate so far, with an impressive 64.3 per cent record thus far.

Meanwhile at the other end, Tennessee’s early-season results showed they can be tough to break down, shipping 17 points or fewer in each of their opening three games of NFL 2016. And with some talented, experienced campaigners like Rashad Johnson and Jason McCourty in their backline, don’t be surprised to see their defence look its tightest yet as they go into the pressure cooker of the final four regular season games as one of three AFC South sides with a 6-6-0 record.

But that run of games in itself should give the Titans hope. They face a dismal Jacksonville side (2-10-0), a Houston Texans side on a run of three losses and a Kansas City Chiefs outfit they’ve beaten in each of the last two meetings. Indeed, Indianapolis – also 6-6-0 in the same division – have arguably the harder run-in, with a trip to high-flying Oakland Raiders to come. Yet our traders have priced Indy up at 20s to be AFC Champions – just half the price they’re offering on the Titans.

That also means the 5/2 for the Titans to finish as winners of the AFC South also looks like excellent value. We reckon they’re missing a trick with that – and the 40/1 Conference odds -, especially when you consider how wide open the AFC is, with only three sides boasting a record better than 7-5-0 right now. And with those convincing victories over the Packers and Bears under their belt, Tennessee look to be peaking at the right time.
