Pogba favourite to take Man United armband when Rooney leaves

Paul Pogba is leading the race to take the Manchester United armband when Wayne Rooney eventually leaves Old Trafford. That’s according to the latest odds, with our traders installing the world’s most expensive player as a 5/4 shot to be the next permanent club captain.

Speculation has been mounting that United’s all-time record goalscorer is heading ever closer to an exit with Rooney now just 3/1 to head to Chinese Super League before the transfer window slams shut on February 28. And as well as offering odds on the 31-year-old’s possible next destination, we’ve reacted accordingly by pricing up who’ll be the next Red Devils skipper.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic is just behind Pogba at odds of 6/4 while Chris Smalling is rated a 4/1 shot. Goalkeeper David de Gea is available at 6/1 with Phil Jones an 8/1 outsider to fill any void left by Rooney’s departure.
