Man City early favourites for title next year, Chelsea 11/4 shots

Man City early favourites for title next year, Chelsea 11/4 shots

Manchester City almost missed out on a Champions League spot this season, but they’ve been made shock favourites for Premier League glory next time out.

Our traders make Pep Guardiola’s men 9/4 favourites to top the table in the 2017-18 campaign despite not winning a trophy, while champions Chelsea are 11/4 shots to win back-to-back titles. That means the pressure really is on the former Barcelona and Bayern Munich manager to add to his ranks this summer.

Having spent in excess of £160m on new arrivals last year, the Spaniard has to strengthen his back-line and should also make signing a world-class goalkeeper a top priority. Do that, and there could be some serious value in that 9/4, but as things stand we just can’t see it happening.

Meanwhile, despite finishing some 24 points off this season’s champions, Jose Mourinho’s Manchester United are next in the running at 10/3 for Prem glory next campaign. Like their neighbours across the city, a lot will depend on who moves to Old Trafford when the transfer window opens.

Tottenham Hotspur are currently 7/1 shots, a price we’re expecting to fall drastically when fans catch on! Mauricio Pochettino’s side have been the only challengers to Chelsea this year, and having finished third in 2015-16 and second in 2016-17, any improvement wins them the title – right?!

Elsewhere, our odds-compilers make both Liverpool and Arsenal 9/1 outsiders for the Premier League title. Plenty on Merseyside may see that as decent value, given that Champions League football should attract the best players in world football to Anfield this summer.

As for the Gunners, supporters would probably say our odds are pretty generous for Arsene Wenger’s men – especially when you consider that the futures of Alexis Sanchez, Mesut Ozil and Wenger himself remain uncertain.

So the odds are up – but who are you tipping for Prem glory next season?
