Hazard out and Insigne in? Chelsea linked with £51m bid

They may have cantered to last season’s Premier League title, but Chelsea could yet lose star man Eden Hazard this summer. No bother though, for they’re ready to secure his successor, Lorenzo Insigne.

The Napoli ace was in sensational form last term, firing in 18 goals and nine assists in Serie A. Comments from the player’s agent have dismissed a €45m bid from the Blues – but we know how this game works. Italian outlet Gazzetta dello Sport now claim Chelsea will test Napoli’s resolve – and Insigne’s agent – with a €51m offer.

Insigne is a product of Napoli’s youth academy, and has been in the senior fold since 2012. But the only way a deal will go ahead is if Eden Hazard departs Stamford Bridge. Rumours of a move to Real Madrid persist, and the Belgian himself has said he would listen to any offers from the La Liga giants.

Tales of a £100m bid have been banded around, meaning Chelsea would make a net profit even if they did have to fork out £50m+ for Insigne. It’s believed that any mega Madrid moves could be sparked by the club calling a presidential election this summer.

Gareth Bale was the most recent Galactico signing from current President Florentino Perez. But the Welshman has failed to win over the Bernabeu regulars, so Perez may well splash once more to get the fans on side.

Hazard score 16 goals and supplied five assists in the Premier League last term, but is set to miss the opening weeks of the new season after breaking his ankle while on international duty with Belgium. But our traders make it a not-unreasonable 33/1 they make a major statement this summer and sign all three!
