Spieth 1/4 after Round Three of The Open with Kuchar only rival

Spieth 1/4 after Round Three of The Open with Kuchar only rival

After another excellent display in Round Three of The Open Championship at Royal Birkdale, Jordan Spieth has one hand on the trophy heading into the final day, with a three shot lead at -11. Short of a miracle, only Matt Kuchar can catch him.

The Texan’s continued dominance has seen his odds of glory cut to just 1/4, with his birdies on the 14th and 15th holes proving crucial, as he extended his lead over Kuchar from two shots to three.

Still, you can’t write the 39-year-old off just yet, following a solid 66 yesterday, as he made the most of the wind-free conditions. He’s 19/5 to lift the trophy, while there’s 19/20 on offer for the Florida native in the Betting without Jordan Spieth market.

However, while the pair’s battle for British Open supremacy will surely be the focus of Round Four, yesterday saw the pair eclipsed in the headlines by South African Branden Grace.

The world number 35 made history by hitting the lowest ever score in a Major, completing the course in 62 shots, putting himself joint-fifth with Japan’s Hideki Matsuyama on -4.

With momentum on Grace’s side, he looks well-priced in the Top ROW market at 13/10, with Matsuyama 8/13 favourite in that bracket.

As for the U.K. contingent, things haven’t gone to plan…

Rory McIlroy hit a passable 69 which leaves him tied in 11th, alongside Ian Poulter, who hit 71, the worst score of any played in the current top 28 in the standings.

However, those who fancy the Northern Irishman to pull out a show-stopping display on the final day can back him to finish in the top five at odds of 27/10.
