With the ATP season about to approach its climax, all of the top players will be gunning for as many points as possible to qualify for the ATP Finals in London. The rest of the pack will be using the Shanghai Masters to improve their standings. Betting odds will be intriguing as these men look to win in Shanghai and make a statement.

Marin Cilic vs Albert Ramos-Viñolas

Twenty ATP ranks separate the two men, but this match should prove interesting. Albert Ramos-Viñolas beat Marin Cilic in this very tournament in 2011, but the Croat won their three subsequent matches. The Spaniard got a great win against the World No5 in Monte Carlo, but the hard courts will work in Cilic’s favour. If Ramos-Viñolas keeps on repeating his slow starts, he might see Cilic run away with it. To be honest, Cilic -1.50 Asian Handicap at 1.65 looks very reassuring.

Rafael Nadal vs Grigor Dimitrov

Nadal is the obvious favourite here, but I wouldn’t simply dismiss Grigor Dimitrov. Sure, Nadal has been cutting through his opponents like they’re butter, but the Bulgarian is a tough match-up for him. In fact, Dimitrov stole a full set against him before winning the semi-final in Beijing. They also ran the distance in Melbourne, to the delight of the fans. I’m certain the King of Clay will come through to the semi-final, but Dimitrov should be able to take the game to full sets. Make a big bet on Dimitrov’s +1.50 Asian Handicap for 2.05 odds.

Viktor Troicki vs Juan Martin Del Potro

Viktor Troicki is the big underdog in this match, as Juan Martin Del Potro won all of their prior encounters on hard and clay courts. The 2016 Olympic champion is in fine form and will be a tough customer for any player in the ATP circuit. However, the Serbian is looking to be a tough customer this time around. He managed to stick to his opponents and will a victory through sheer grit. If Del Potro isn’t careful, he might get swept by the 31-year-old. I still see this as a game for the Argentine’s to lose, but my tip is headed to Troicki’s +1.50 @ 1.99.

Roger Federer vs Richard Gasquet

The fact Federer is still so dominant at 36 never fails to amaze me. I would love to see another classic between him and Nadal, but he would have to win against Richard Gasquet first. The 31-year-old Gasquet has put on an inspired display in Shanghai, but I don’t think he can stop a Federer who has beaten players even younger than him. I think Roger’s red-hot form will overwhelm any tricks the Frenchman comes up with. My final tip is a confident one: put all of your money on Federer -1.50 @ 1.39.
