Big Hitters in Sunday Shoot-Out

It’s getting tight at the top of Serie A and this weekend, Turin is the place to be to see the league’s sharpest shooters in action. Juventus host Inter in the match of the season so far. Both have won their last three football games, but Inter remain unbeaten at the top and have a two-point advantage over the champions. Along with Napoli, Roma, and maybe Lazio, football betting pundits agree it’s still a four or five horse race.

WEEK 16 SUNDAY:

Cagliari vs Sampdoria

Sampdoria are going well in sixth with Fabio Quagliarella and Duvan Zapata building a nice understanding with 13 goals between them. Cagliari are in solid form in 13th, only losing to Inter in recent weeks and are slight favourite, in a tight match, at 2.54, with Sampdoria 2.65 and the draw at 3.35.

Juventus vs Inter Milan

At handicap betting odds of 1.71 to win, the Bianconeri are fancied to end Inter’s unbeaten run. Inter’s league top scorer Mauro Icardi, with 16, is up against Juve’s 12-goal man Paulo Dybala, backed by Gonzalo Higuain who has nine. But much of Inter’s success is owed to the goals and supply of Ivan Perisic, who has weighed in with seven. So let the battle commence!

Chievo vs AS Roma

Roma are currently in fourth place but have a tricky match away to Chievo on Sunday. The hosts sit 11th and were on a nice run until Inter thumped them 5-0 last week. Roberto Inglese has six goals for Chievo and represents the biggest threat to the visitors.

Napoli vs Fiorentina

Secon- placed Napoli whimpered out of the Champions League, losing to Feyenoord in midweek but have been in fine form domestically, only losing their first match last week to Juve. If they beat seventh-placed Fiorentina, which might be hard since the Violas are unbeaten in three, they could return to the top.

Udinese vs Benevento

From the smallest of acorns do great oak trees grow. Benevento are off the mark after an excellent draw with Milan and will be keen to add to their single point on a trip to 14th placed Udinese. Can they do it? Well Udinese have lost their last two home games.

SPAL vs Hellas Verona

These two new boys are finding it tough so far but may be heading in opposite directions. Verona have won two of the last three, in all competitions, while SPAL have lost three on the bounce. The hosts are favourites, though, at 2.06 with Verona 3.55 and the draw at 3.30.

WEEK 16 MONDAY:

Sassuolo vs Crotone

17th plays 16th in a match neither will want to lose. Hovering a point or two above the drop zone, a win would work wonders for either. Sassuolo have won two in the last four while Crotone have lost all four, so at 1.81, a home win may be good value.

AC Milan vs Bologna

Eighth plays ninth in Milan, which will sound like a disappointing introduction to fans of the Rossoneri. The hosts have been underwhelming and are already 18 points behind Inter. They even gave Benevento their first point last week! After a four match losing streak, Bologna has taken seven points from three games so will be right up for this one.

WEEK 16 TUESDAY:

Genoa vs Atalanta

Seven points from three games have lifted Genoa away from the drop zone and up to 15th. But Atalanta are in decent form too, and have a psychological edge, doing the double over their hosts last season in some style, highlighted by eight unanswered goals. Genoa have a score to settle.

Lazio vs Torino

Lazio are only two points behind fierce rivals Roma but at seven from the top in such a fast race, they may be just too far off the pace. They drew their last home league game, against Fiorentina, and with seven games unbeaten in all competitions, Torino may prove to be a little sticky.
