Transfer Round Up: Manchester United's Malcom bid to be upstaged by €60m Arsenal offer

Transfer Round Up: Manchester United's Malcom bid to be upstaged by €60m Arsenal offer

The Red Devils are desperate to sign the player but the Gunners are willing to spend more to get their man

Arsenal look to pip United to Malcom signing

Bordeaux’s Brazilian sensation Malcom has been drawing admiring glances from across Europe, with Manchester United supposedly in poll position to snare the player in either this window or next.

However, it now seems that Arsenal have emerged as a genuine contender for the player’s signature. The Gunners have a €60m offer readied, in the hope that he opts for a move to the capital.

Even with Arsene Wenger potentially departing I the summer, the London club feel they can offer the forward a more regular starting berth, while billing him as the Alexis Sanchez replacement.

Inter make move for Liverpool’s Sturridge

Daniel Sturridge is clearly not going to get a look-in on a consistent basis at Liverpool under Jurgen Klopp. The manager has grown tired of the constant injuries and inconsistency and the England man looks all set to leave this January.

It is looking fairly unlikely that a top six Premier League side are willing to take a gamble on the goalscorer, with the player not too keen on a move down to a top-flight team of a lower standing.

Sturridge may well be delighted to know that Inter Milan are set to offer him a way out. Luciano Spalletti is rebuilding the Serie A club up in third after six campaigns outside the top three. Star striker Mauro Icardi has been the subject of much interest and the Nerazzurri see the Reds forward as the ideal replacement or supplement to the Argentine, with the Italians looking to take him on loan before securing him on a permanent deal in the summer.

Everton to scupper Walcott homecoming

Theo Walcott’s totally disinterested performance against Nottingham Forest last weekend showed all the signs of a player whose mind was elsewhere. The former Southampton man looked a shell of himself, with a January departure now all-but inevitable.

A move back to Saints was expected for somewhere around the £20m mark. A switch that seemed to make total sense. However, Sam Allardyce may well have thrown a spanner in the works for Walcott’s homecoming,

The Everton boss is keen to add to his attacking threat and wants a supply line for his newly signed centre forward Cenk Tosun. The Toffees have a wealth of cash to play with and could easily match the asking price and most likely do the same for the player’s wages.
