Will I Bet Online on a Big City Wobble? Not Just Yet!

Will I Bet Online on a Big City Wobble? Not Just Yet!

Liverpool struck a mighty blow for the chasing pack with a 4-3 win over Manchester City last week, but now they need a few more teams to take up the challenge.

Manchester United, Liverpool, and Chelsea fans are clinging on to the hope that winning the league is still just about on, and there are great odds available for online betting players willing to back any of them. But one win, one draw and yes, a defeat, in the last three football games do not represent a crisis; and I fully expect Pep Guardiola’s City to get back to winning ways this weekend.

WEEK 24 SATURDAY:

Brighton & Hove Albion vs Chelsea

Chelsea are 15 points off the pace, and maybe hanging on to a top four place. Winning a trophy will be enough for Antonio Conte. The Blues have drawn four on the bounce, in all competitions, and will face another battle against Brighton, fighting for their life in 16th.

Arsenal vs Crystal Palace

The Gunners don’t look like they could fight their way out of a paper bag at the moment, and look like losing their best players in this transfer window. So I won’t bet against the resurgent Eagles, up to 12th after back-to-back wins, from giving Arsene Wenger another headache.

Leicester City vs Watford FC

Outside the top six, the Foxes are in the race to be ‘best of the rest’ and were impressive in a 0-0 draw at Stamford Bridge last time out. Watford, on the other hand, have fallen away somewhat with just four points to show for the last six games, and are just six above the drop zone.

Everton vs West Bromwich Albion

Sam Allardyce has got the Toffees motoring and, true to form, looks like splashing the cash this window, possibly bringing in Theo Walcott among others. But they’ve lost the last three league games, while the Baggies grabbed their first win since August to climb back into the pack.

West Ham United vs Bournemouth

The Hammers and Cherries are pulling nicely away from danger, each with eight points from the last four games, and both teams have goals in them, with 14 ‘over 2.5 goal’ matches from 23. David Moyes and Eddie Howe have different styles for sure but they’re certainly working at the moment.

Stoke City vs Huddersfield Town

New Stoke boss Paul Lambert said he didn’t mind being the Potter’s 15th choice for the job, but I bet he’s glad his first game in charge is at home to Huddersfield. Stoke have slid into the drop zone after three defeats but a win on Saturday will take them to within a point of the free-falling Terriers.

WEEK 24 SUNDAY:

Manchester City vs Newcastle United

The Sky Blues are still a massive 12 clear at the top, and aside from the defeat in last week’s match of the season, the only points they’ve dropped since August were in a draw against a vastly improved Crystal Palace. So I think they’ll give Newcastle a hiding. But the Geordies are unbeaten in three, and if they somehow extend that to four then maybe it is time for City fans to start wobbling.

WEEK 24 MONDAY:

Southampton vs Tottenham Hotspur

There’s always one team ‘too good to go down’ which eventually perishes, and Saints fans will hope it’s not them as they sit a single point outside the bottom three. Scoring is often a problem an for the Saints, they are just three more than Harry Kane alone this season. However, for all Harry’s goals, Spurs are currently outside the top four.

WEEK 24 TUESDAY:

Swansea City vs Liverpool

So Jurgen Klopp’s heroes did what no-one else could in beating Manchester City and they’ll want to build on that to ensure a successful finish to the season. The Reds are on fire, with five consecutive wins in all competitions, and they should have more fun at the expense of the rock bottom Swans.
