Don't speculate: 5 Football League tips for Saturday's action

Don't speculate: 5 Football League tips for Saturday's action

Fulham to beat Burton – 9/20

Fulham beat Middlesbrough 1-0 last time for their fourth victory in a five-match unbeaten run in the Championship, leaving them just one point off the play-off spots. The Cottagers have also won four consecutive home games in the league and should stroll to a fifth against Burton. The Brewers’ 3-1 defeat to QPR last Saturday left them a point adrift of safety following one victory in their last five.

Preston to beat Birmingham – 3/4

Birmingham’s recent revival proved to be short-lived last weekend after they lost 3-0 at home to Derby. The Blues also have the worst away record in the entire division, having taken just six points from their 13 games on the road. Preston drew away to Millwall on Saturday, but have only lost one of their last 12 league matches.

Blackburn to beat Fleetwood – 1/1

Blackburn come into this on the back of a 3-1 victory over promotion rivals Shrewsbury, which narrowed the gap between them and second to just two points. That was Rovers’ 15th league game without defeat, while they have accrued more points during the last 10 than any other side in League One. Fleetwood have lost three league games on the spin at Highbury and have the third-worst home record in the division.

Oxford to beat Bury – 21/20

Bury’s nightmare season just keeps getting worse. The Shakers are rock-bottom having lost seven league games on the spin and failed to score in eight. Oxford have won back-to-back matches at the Kassam Stadium for the first time this season and should make it three from three.

Mansfield to beat Cheltenham – 5/4

Mansfield were knocked out of the FA Cup in midweek, but their play-off push remains very much on track thanks to just one defeat in their last 14 league games. The Stags also boast the seventh-best home record in League Two having only once at the One Call Stadium all season. Cheltenham were beaten 2-0 by Accrington last Saturday and have now lost three from five.
