Lampard backs Blues to respond

Under-pressure Chelsea boss Frank Lampard has backed his players to show the character needed to end a poor run of results in recent weeks.
The Blues have dropped down to eighth place in the Premier League standings after winning just one of their last six games in the competitions, with their latest game seeing them beaten 3-1 at home by Manchester City.
And, while he accepts that things are not going well at the moment, Lampard remains adamant that both he and his squad have the capabilities needed to turn things around.
He told his club's official website: "I expected periods of difficulty this year. I said it when we beat Leeds and people were championing us to be title contenders. I know it doesn't come that easy and I know where we are at.
"One month ago people were asking when I'm signing a new contract and now people will be saying different things because in a tight, busy period we have lost four games in quick succession.
"The pressure remains constant in this job. In tough moments that will be there, I'm not unaware of that. My job is to keep working and lift the players - without a doubt we have the character to get out of it."
The Blues are back in Premier League action on Friday January 15th when they make the short trip to Craven Cottage to take on Fulham.
Chelsea have won on each of their last three visits to their London neighbours and are 8/15 to secure victory for a fourth straight time, with the draw priced at 10/3.
Meanwhile, Lampard's side are 2/5 to finish in the top six this season and 6/5 to secure a top-four spot.
