Parker vs. Chisora 2: What do the stats suggest?

After edging a win in the first fight between the pair, Parker will enter the rematch with a record of 29 wins and 2 losses, with 21 of those wins coming by the way of a knockout. After a career that started back in 2007, Derek Chisora has a record of 32 wins and 11 losses, with 23 of his wins coming by knockout.

Based upon the opponents they have both boxed, the stats suggest that Parker and Chisora will enter the ring with a similar chance of earning a knockout victory in this fight, as both hold a 72% knockout percentage, whilst holding quite similar results against the opposition that they have both faced.

Parker is the younger man by eight years at 29 and has a height advantage of two inches over Chisora. He also has a reach advantage of two inches which proved to be decisive in the first fight between the pair.

Bettors will also have a good gauge of how the two boxers will match up stylistically after the pair boxed each other back in May of this year (behind closed doors) with Parker edging the decision on the scorecards.

Parker vs. Chisora 2: Where is the value?

This certainly won’t be an easy fight for either fighter. It is one that has a very high chance of going the distance, and there will likely be some drama along the way.

In the past, Chisora has struggled a lot more against boxers who can move, rather than fighters who are willing to stand and trade punches with him and Parker does possess enough movement in his fighting style to be able to frustrate the Brit.

Chisora has found it extremely hard to catch fighters who are less superior boxers than Parker and this is where the edge sits between the pair, and it's likely the rationale behind the way the betting markets are priced. Chisora will need to produce a very good performance if he is going to to be able to beat the former WBO champion.

Early on in this fight, it will almost certainly be competitive, and Chisora will likely look to apply educated pressure to make Parker feel uneasy, which should result in some potential early drama between the two.

The edge should sit with Parker (as the odds suggest) after the first fight, even though he certainly wasn’t at his best and laboured to victory at times. Parker has faster hands, faster feet, and punches more correctly than Chisora, with more defensive accountability. It is difficult to make a case for any improvement coming from the Brit in his boxing style at 37 years old, whereas Parker is certainly capable of boxing a lot better than he did in the first fight, and is young enough to still make improvements.

Both fighters have promised the fight will end early in the rematch, but this scenario is unlikely. Out of the two, Chisora will have more of a desire to end the fight inside the distance if he feels that the judges won’t give him the decision if it’s close on the scorecards, but Parker is a very durable fighter and has gone the distance on multiple occasions with fighters who punch harder than Chisora - so the likelihood of Chisora's desired outcome happening is slim.

Parker should be a lot more focused in the opening rounds after being knocked down by Chisora inside 10 seconds last time out and will look to get into his stride earlier and outbox Chisora from the start. If he can get into his rhythm early on then the value certainly sits with Parker winning via decision due to his superior boxing ability.

Best bet: Back Over 10.5 rounds @ 1.487*

Fight prediction: Parker to win via decision
