Belgium vs. Netherlands predictions

Belgium

Draw

Netherlands

Belgium and the Netherlands are neighbours geographically and there is unlikely to be much between the two teams when they meet in Brussels for their first match in UEFA Nations League Group A4 on Friday.

Six of the last eight matches between the two sides have ended in a draw, with Belgium winning the other two, meaning the Netherlands have not beaten their rivals since September 1997.

Both sides will come into this match in decent form; Belgium are unbeaten in four matches since losing in the final stages of the last UEFA Nations League, while it is nine matches since the Dutch last tasted defeat.

These two sides are likely to be the frontrunners at the top of Group A4 and given both have also drawn two of their last four matches, a share of the spoils may not be a bad result for either.

France vs. Denmark predictions

France

Draw

Denmark

56.31%

World champions France are in imperious form, having won seven matches in a row, a run that includes their success in last year’s UEFA Nations League.

Denmark made it to the semi-finals of Euro 2020 last summer and Kasper Hjulmand’s side also breezed through World Cup qualifying, winning their opening nine matches before losing to Scotland after they had already secured qualification.

France are unbeaten in their last four matches against Denmark, winning three and drawing one, but there does not tend to be many goals when these two meet, with both teams getting on the scoreboard happening just once in their last seven meetings.

Karim Benzema, fresh from helping Real Madrid to Champions League glory, is likely to be France’s main source for goals during Friday’s Group A1 match, as he has scored five across his last four appearances on the international stage.

Hungary vs. England predictions

Hungary

Draw

England

Hungary failed to qualify for the World Cup, but they did earn promotion to the top tier of the UEFA Nations League and have won away in both Poland and Northern Ireland over recent months.

Euro 2020 finalists England will represent a step up in class for the Magyars when they meet in Budapest on Saturday in Group A3, with Gareth Southgate’s men unbeaten in their last 10 matches, registering eight wins during that time.

That sequence includes a 4-0 victory for England in Budapest less than a year ago, although the most recent meeting between the two sides did end in a 1-1 draw at Wembley back in October.

Indeed, England are unbeaten in their last 12 meetings with Hungary, a run that stretches back to 1962, and they will expect to claim another victory on Saturday, especially with in-form captain Harry Kane leading the line. The Tottenham striker has scored eight goals in his last four international matches.

Italy vs. Germany predictions

Italy

Draw

Germany

29.96%

Saturday’s other Group A3 clash will be a heavyweight tussle between European champions Italy and Germany in Bologna.

Italy have failed to win any of their last three competitive matches, a run that saw Gli Azzurri miss out on qualifying for a second successive World Cup.

Germany had no such problems as they had won eight matches in a row prior to their recent friendly draw in the Netherlands.

Die Mannschaft have also yet to taste defeat under recently installed head coach Hansi Flick and they are unbeaten in their last four meetings with Italy. However, it has been a long time since Germany beat Gli Azzurri on Italian soil, the last time that happened was in a friendly back in February 1986.
