The LG Twins are going for their first integrated championship title in 29 years. Led by a balanced batting line-up, the Twins finished first in the regular season (86-56-2) and headed directly to the Korean Series (KS) with a .606 winning percentage. They will host Game 1 of the series on November 7.

The KT Wiz won the final game of the best-of-five series against the NC Dinos 3-2 at KT Wiz Park on Sunday. After losing Games 1 and 2 of the series, the Wiz swept Games 3 to 5 to secure their progress, becoming only the third team in KBO history to recover from going 2-0 down in the playoffs. 

While the Wiz's pitching staff was steady in the Playoff Series agains the Dinos, the middle of the batting order struggled. The trio of Anthony Alford, Park Byung-ho, and Jang Sung-woo were not as productive as expected. Alford's batting average (AVG) was just .143, while he had two hits in 14 at bats (AB) with one home run in five games. Park had four hits in 20 AB with an AVG of .200, while Jang had six hits in 18 AB with an AVG of .333.

KT Wiz vs. LG Twins Korean Series predictions

The 2023 Korean Series, which ultimately sees the first and second place finishers of the regular season play each other, will begin on November 7. Games 1 and 2 will take place in Seoul, the home of the LG Twins, while the next two will be hosted by the Wiz in Suwon. The other games, if required, will take place in Seoul.

The Wiz will start with right-handed pitcher Ko Young-pyo, who has a 12-7 record in 28 games and 174.2 innings pitched this season. Ko ranked sixth in the league with an earned run average (ERA) of 2.78, tied for fifth in wins, seventh in innings pitched (first among Korean players), and second in quality starts (21). However, Ko faltered sharply against the Twins this season, going 2-2 with a 7.36 ERA in 18.1 innings over four games.

The Twins will hand the ball to right-handed pitcher, Casey Kelly, in Game 1. The American had a disappointing first four months of the season, going 7-6 with a 4.53 ERA in his first 119.1 innings, but was a lot better over his final 10 starts, going 3-1 with a 2.43 ERA in 59.1 innings to close out the season. In four starts against the Wiz this year, he is 1-1 with a 3.96 ERA in 25 innings pitched.

The Twins hold a 10-win advantage in their 16 meetings this season, but may be rusty going into the series having not played in 22 days.

The Wiz go into the series on the back of their remarkable comeback win over the NC Dinos, but that success masked some cracks in the middle infield throughout the playoffs.

However, the Wiz can draw on their experience, with this being their second appearance in the Korean Series in the last three years. They won the combined championship two years ago. This team seems to know how to perform when it matter most, and will give the Twins a run for their money in what could be a hard-fought series that goes the distance.

However, Wiz starting pitcher Ko Young-pyo hasn't pitched well against the Twins this season, so LG looks set to take Game 1, currently listed as a -167 favorite. Given the fact that they finished at the top of the standings and hold a dominant 10-6 record over the Wiz this season, the Twins are expected to win the Korean Series and be crowned KBO champions.
