Derek Chisora vs. Tyson Fury: what do the stats suggest?

Tyson Fury comes into this bout unbeaten in his 33 professional fights, with 32 wins and one draw in that run. 23 of those wins have come by way of knockout.

Fury beat Wladimir Klitschko in 2015 to win the WBA (Super), IBF, WBO, IBO, and The Ring heavyweight titles before a sabbatical from boxing that saw him lose his belts.

“The Gypsy King” then returned to boxing in 2018, controversially drawing with Deontay Wilder for the WBC heavyweight title before winning that and The Ring heavyweight belts in a second fight with Wilder.

Fury then beat Wilder again in a trilogy fight last year before a comprehensive victory over Dillian Whyte in April of this year.

Derek Chisora has a professional record of 33 wins and 12 losses from 45 fights, with 23 of those wins and three of those defeats have come by way of knockout.

Chisora has fought for the WBC heavyweight title on one occasion, losing to Vitali Klitschko in 2012. He has won various regional titles but has never secured a world heavyweight title.

“Del Boy” has lost three of his last four fights, twice to Joseph Parker and once to Oleksandr Usyk.

Fury inflicted Chisora’s first loss, in 2011, and the pair did battle again in 2014 which Fury also won. The first defeat was by unanimous decision and the second was by way of knockout.

Derek Chisora vs. Tyson Fury: where is the value?

Tyson Fury has outclassed Derek Chisora in both of their previous meetings and Chisora will have to produce something special to avoid falling to the same fate.

Chisora will look to fight on the inside and drag Fury into a battle but Fury’s speed and athleticism means Chisora may not be able to pull this off.

Fury is likely to take his time and pick his shots so don’t expect an early conclusion to this bout. However, Fury’s class is likely to tell in the end and he looks set to secure a knockout in the latter rounds.

Perhaps the only thing that can stop the reigning champion is lack of preparation but he has repeatedly insisted in the build-up to this fight that he is taking Chisora and the fight seriously.
