Artur Beterbiev vs. Anthony Yarde: what do the stats suggest?
Beterbiev's record is perfect, with the Russian-Canadian boxer unbeaten in his 18 fights as a professional.
The 38-year-old was a successful amateur while competing for Russia, winning gold medals at the World Cup, World Championships, and European Championships.
He turned professional in 2013 and has since stopped every one of his opponents inside the scheduled distance.
Beterbiev's biggest wins have come against Tavoris Cloud, Callum Johnson, Radivoje Kalajdzic, Oleksandr Gvozdyk, Marcus Browne, and Joe Smith Jr., and his incredible power has led him to the top of the sport, with the orthodox fighter the unified light heavyweight world champion.
While Beterbiev's record is perfect, Yarde has lost two fights in his career. He was stopped by Sergey Kovalev in August 2019 in Russia before Lyndon Arthur recorded a split-decision victory over him in December 2020.
Yarde's record stands at 23-2, but he has won 22 of his fights by knockout. The 31-year-old has proven he can trouble anybody with his power, and Saturday's fight could be a case of whoever lands the big punch first is likely to go on and win the contest.
Artur Beterbiev vs. Anthony Yarde: where is the value?
Both Beterbiev and Yarde's records suggest Saturday's fight will not go 12 rounds, but that does not mean the contest will end early.
Either fighter has the power needed to finish the fight with one punch, but if Yarde is to win, he may need to take Beterbiev into the later rounds to try and wear him down.
Should Yarde try to exchange with Beterbiev, he should lose comfortably, but if he can try to counter his rival, he may be able to take his Russian-Canadian opponent into deeper waters towards the end of the 12-round contest.
There is enough value in the fight going over 5.5 rounds, which is currently priced at 1.781*, especially with Yarde determined to prove he belongs at world level. He cannot afford to take any risks early on, and if he tries to engage from the first bell, he will soon find himself on the canvas.
